I always look forward to Memorial Day weekend. Not only do we, as a country, stop for a minute to honor and remember the people who died while serving in our armed forces, but we also officially kick off summer with a three-day weekend.
For me, that usually means traveling to see family or to spectate my sons’ soccer tournaments. It also means I have a little extra time to catch up on my recorded shows on my DVR (I can’t be the only one who is behind on one or more of their favorite shows, right?)
DVR recordings on the go
I know what you’re thinking right now. How can I catch up on my recorded shows on my DVR when I’m not at home? I do it through the magic of the Xfinity Stream app, which essentially allows me to take my DVR library with me wherever I go. I run the Stream app on my iPad because I like the larger screen but I could just as easily run it on my smartphone as well. Only Xfinity gives you the most free TV shows and movies on the go with Xfinity Stream app, included with any Xfinity TV service
When I get some downtime, I just pop open the Xfinity Stream app, go to the “Recordings” section, select my show and touch Play. It’s really that simple.
Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots
Of course, the Xfinity Stream app requires internet access to utilize all of its features. Thankfully, Xfinity has a huge nationwide network of millions of Wi-Fi hotspots just in case the place you’re staying doesn’t offer their own free internet. Just look for “xfinitywifi” in your wireless settings on your mobile device. Connect to the xfinitywifi network, sign in with your Xfinity account credentials and you’re in business! Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots are included with your Xfinity internet service at no extra cost.
Live television and On Demand
If, for some reason, you are completely caught up with your recorded shows (I mean honestly, who are you?), the Xfinity Stream app also allows you to watch top networks and live sports on the go. In other words, you can turn any mobile device you own into a live television.
When you’re ready to come inside for the night to tend to your sunburn or mosquito bites, you can tap into the On Demand library in the Stream app which has thousands of movies and shows to choose from. Once again, select the movie or show you want to watch, touch Play and you’ve got instant entertainment on the go.
Dine in or to go?
Whether you have Xfinity now or want to sign up for Xfinity to get full access to the Xfinity Stream app and the Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots, let me know. I would be happy to help teach you how to add the “to go” option to your current dine-in television experience.
