Would you help give an alligator a bath?

Where's My Water?

If I told you that there was an alligator in desperate need of water, would you help? What if I told you that the alligator needed that water to take a shower or bath? Still willing to help?

Luckily, you don’t have to answer that question because the alligator I’m referring to is a fictitious alligator named Swampy and he’s part of a game called Where’s My Water? And yes, the objective is to bring fresh water to Swampy so he can finish his shower or bath.

Before you dismiss this game idea as crazy, give it a try. It’s quite addicting. Mainly because it relies heavily on logic and physics. In other words, you have to think before you make your game move.

How to play

To make a game move you just drag a path for the water to follow. If enough water makes it to Swampy so he can finish his shower or bath, you complete the level and move on to a more difficult level. If you blow it and let all of the water slip away, you can retry the level as many times as you need to in order to complete it.

Where's My Water? Level 1

As you encounter each new level, you’ll discover both good and bad things. Good things like duckies that you can collect to unlock achievements. Bad things like bombs that will explode if they get too wet. Just keep in mind that the duckies aren’t always along the same path you want to choose to get the water to Swampy! The bad things usually are.

A few tricks

I discovered a couple of tricks after playing Where’s the Water? for a while. One is that you don’t have to drag the path all at once. You can drag a bit of the path and then take a few seconds to decide the next direction for the water path. Another trick is that you aren’t limited to just one water path. You can start multiple paths at once or you can take one path and split it off into multiple directions. This comes in handy when you are trying to collect all of the duckies.

Here’s a few more tricks my son gave me:

  • Keep experimenting if you don’t immediately know how to complete a level. You may not complete a level on your first try but you will learn from your mistakes along the way.
  • If there is a question mark in the top left of the game screen, there is a mystery artifact hidden in the dirt. You’ll need to dig through the dirt to find it—even if your digging isn’t helping you to complete the level.
