How to Use Evernote Properly For First Timers

What is Evernote?

Evernote is currently the most popular digital notebook app. Unlike the usual notepad apps, however, you can add all kinds of things on the note itself. It’s useful for activities like writing down notes for class, chronicling your day, adding snapshots and even putting in audio files.

Despite the seemingly complicated functions, however, it’s fairly easy to use. You can download it from the App Store as well as Google Play.

Creating Notes and Notebooks

The most basic function of Evernote, of course, is writing notes. By clicking “new note” you can start writing on a blank page. You can input anything here, from notes in class to daily activities and even to-do lists.

If you need several notes for a certain subject or topic, you can put all your notes in one notebook. You can also organize your writings by assigning a tag to specific topics. For example, if you’re keeping tabs on your expenses, tag your notes as “expenses” or “budget” to easily look it up later.

Using Web Clipper

Sometimes, you stumble on articles online that you might find useful. Learning how to use Evernote Web Clipper will help you file these links away for better use in the future. You can also incorporate links on the article you’ll write on Evernote. Bloggers definitely find this feature useful.

The web clipper isn’t just for online links. You can also clip PDF files, email messages, and even screenshots from a site you find interesting. And you won’t have to litter your browser with all kinds of bookmarks.

Searching Past Entries

With the tagging system, you can easily find your past entries with ease. If you can’t remember the exact note title or tag, however, you can just input any word your remember from that document on the search tool. Evernote will present all the notes you’ve saved containing that particular word.

With this search feature, you won’t have to worry about creating too many notes or filing them into notebooks.

Other Things You Can Save

With other notepad apps, you can only save text files. However, with Evernote, you can incorporate photos, audio files and other mixed media.

You can save receipts scans if you want to keep track of your expenses. You can also include important photos of the day for your journal entry. How about an interesting video clip you watched that you want to return to later on? Save it on Evernote!

There are a lot of other things you can insert and incorporate into your notes to make them more interesting. Whether you use it on your mobile device or your computer, Evernote will make your note-taking life so much easier.
