Both of my middle school boys have smartphones and not a day goes by where I don’t worry about what they can do with them. Oh sure, the easy solution would seem to be just to not let them have a smartphone but there are just as many good reasons for them to have one as there are bad.
And besides, electronics in kids hands are almost unavoidable these days. In fact, next year, an iPad will be on the required school supply list for both of my boys.
So what can a parent do to protection their children on their smartphone? Well, I believe first and foremost that you have to have an honest and open communication with your kids about the dangers of owning a smartphone. I routinely ask my boys if they have sent or receive inappropriate photos or if strangers have attempted to contact them on their phones.
Besides, communication though, there’s education. And the infographic below does a fantastic job at addressing many of the things parents should know when it comes to keeping their kids safe on their smartphones.
The infographic was created by TigerMobiles.com, which is a UK-based company, but all of the information is completely relevant in the U.S. as well. Hope you enjoy it!
