LG G6

If you haven’t noticed, the new trend in Android smartphones is bigger screen, less border. The LG G6 is no exception. It boasts a 5.7″ display in a device that still fits comfortably in your hand. The true specs say that the LG G6 has an 80% body-to-screen ratio but no matter how many times I look at the phone, it feels like it should be higher than that.

I guess it’s because, unlike the new Samsung Galaxy S8, the LG G6 stops at the border on the left and right side while the S8 wraps around the edges with its curved glass infinity display. Curved edge or not, the LG G6 still has a beautiful display.

What’s new with the LG G6?

Honestly, most of what I found new and intriguing with the LG G6 has to do with the camera and the camera app itself. For starters, the LG G6 now has a 13 megapixel rear camera which can shoot up to a 125 degree viewing angle.

It also has a square camera feature if you are tired of taking rectangular shots and then having them cropped down when you post them to Instagram.

The square camera feature also gives you four new fun options:

Other notable features

A couple of other features you might appealing with the LG G6 are the selfie camera auto shot that can automatically take a selfie as soon as it recognizes your face and an IP68 rating meaning the phone is water resistant up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.

The new Google assistant is now baked right into the LG G6 as well.

Recommendation

The LG G6 is a great choice if you are considering an Android smartphone. I’m a little biased in that while writing this review, I am also testing out the Samsung Galaxy S8 and I have to give a slight nudge to the Galaxy S8. That being said, you will definitely be happy with either the LG G6 or the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Note: The LG G6 in this review was provided to me by Verizon Wireless and can be purchased at your local Verizon Wireless store or at www.verizonwireless.com.
