YouTube legal notice makes me feel important
A few days ago I received an email from YouTube. Here's a snippet from that email:
A copyright owner has claimed it owns some or all of the audio content in your video [video name]. The audio content identified in your video is I Melt by Rascal Flatts. We regret to inform you that your video has been blocked from playback due to a music rights issue.
When I first read this email my first reaction was to scream out, "I AM SOMEBODY!" I wasn't the slightest bit angry. Quite the contrary. I was delighted that Rascal Flatts (or someone that works for Rascal Flatts or their record label or some third party they hired or a computer algorithm that just recognizes music, I'm not sure I care which) actually found and watched my YouTube video. And not only watched the video but took the time to send little 'ol me a legal notice.
Today, I am truly somebody.
