When it comes to technology products, does size matter?
It's funny what people think they want when they go to buy a new digital camera. Almost everyone I talk to says they want one of those ultra-slim cameras that you can slip into your pocket. Ironically, those same people rarely end up buying that ultra-slim camera. Reminds me when I went to pick out a diamond for my wife's engagement ring nearly 10 years ago. The jeweler told me that a 1 carat diamond is the most requested diamond. Notice he said most requested, not most purchased.
So why do the people I talk to get swayed away from the ultra-slim camera? Because it usually lacks the real features they want in a camera. Features like a decent optical zoom, a flip-up flash and a super-fast shutter speed. You just won't find those features in a $150 ultra-slim camera.
My point is to not always be taken in by how tiny technology products have become. Sure, my iPod Shuffle is the size of a postage stamp but I can't watch a video on it. And yeah, your cell phone may be the same size as a pack of gum, but I'm the one snickering when I watch you struggling just to dial a phone number.
Bigger isn't always better. But neither is tiny. Look long enough and you'll find technology products that meet your needs, look nice and won't break your piggy bank.
