Use the Internet to avoid scams not to fall for them
Some people have a negative connotation of the Internet due to the abundance of viruses, fraud and scams. But what if you could use the Internet to avoid a scam?
I recently used my TiVo HD DVR to subscribe to a video podcast called Scam School. Scam School is the brainchild of Brian Bushwood and aims to expose scams to the public to prevent people from falling for them.
I was a little skeptical when I watched my first episode. My guard is usually up pretty high when it comes to scams but I have to tell you, I fell hook, line and sinker for the first one. I don't want to spoil it, so instead I've embedded the video below.
Watch it until the very end because if you are like me, you will think you know the trick in the first 60 seconds. But there's a catch and it worth sticking around for.
If you can't see the embedded video below, you can watch it here.
Caution: Brian Bushwood utters one "bad word" in the middle of the video so treat this video as PG-13 if you watching it at work.
