USB headsets

Recently, someone asked me to provide a link to USB headsets that can be used for voice over Internet services such as Skype or the new Windows Live Messenger. I’ll start with the one I use. You can find it here at Amazon.com. I think the headset has exceptional quality and is a breeze to use. Just plug it in to one of the open USB ports on your computer or notebook and you’re good to go.

I do have one problem though using the headset but it has nothing to do with the headset itself. When you use a headset with Skype, you have to configure the Skype preferences to tell it to use the headset. This works fine. But when you unplug the headset, Skype no longer “remembers” you have a headset and switches your settings back to the default “Windows device” settings. So every time I plug in the USB headset I have to reset the preferences back to my headset. This can be a pain when someone calls me on Skype and I don’t have my headset plugged in already.

For a list of other Skype compatible headsets and several other Skype-compatible devices visit the Skype Shop on Skype’s web site.
