A friend of mine shared with me this text message she received on her mobile phone: from 404-754-1874 "You have been selected for a $1,000 Walmart GiftCard, Enter code "FREE" at [link removed] to claim your prize: 161 left!" I removed the link for security reasons but it clearly had the makings of what appeared to be www.walmart.com. But it wasn't. I have yet to receive a single broadcast text on my phone that I didn't ask for. That's a fancy way of saying spam text hasn't infiltrated my smartphone... yet. But if and when it does, I'll be ready. Mainly because one of my clients is receiving text spam right now and asked me to look into how to stop it. But instead of just dismissing the angry voicemail as another lost customer, the Alamo Drafthouse used the voicemail word…

There are more & more companies using texting as a way to communicate coupons, sales and codes (ie Redbox). I do not have texting on my phone plan because frankly we just don't need it yet and don't want to incure the extra costs. Thanks for your perspective! - Tracy (location unknown) A: I have to admit this one really stumped me for a while. I didn't know of anything off-hand so I hit the Internet and started doing…
