I was driving down the road today and noticed this sign in front of a church: Two emotions hit me immediately. The first was to think how cool it was that the church was embracing technology and encouraging younger generations to pray using the communication method most familiar to them. This emotion was followed by one of disappointment as I pictured hoards of teenagers skipping Sunday mass because they already texted their prayers into the church. So what do you think? Is texting your prayers to a church a step forward or a step back? Continue reading...

I'm not sure what took me so long, but I finally had the opportunity to use Google's GOOG-411 service. And I gave it the test of all tests mainly because I was under severe duress at the time I used it. I just finished a meeting with a networking contact at Starbucks and was halfway to a lunch meeting. That's when I looked at my dashboard and wondered why I hadn't mounted my GPS receiver. Last night, my wife and I attended the Billy Joel, Elton John Face 2 Face concert. It's no surprise that, since our kids were born, we haven't been to a lot of concerts so I found it fascinating to people-watch throughout the concert. Even more fascinating was the tremendous use (and mis-use) of technology during the concert. I wish I could have talked to the people I observed but it was a little too crowded for that. But here's what I would have said: To the teenagers and 20 somethings: If you tell me you went to the concert I… Continue reading...

So I'm listening to Radio Disney with my kids in the car and I hear a promo saying that you can now listen to Radio Disney on your smart phone. Given that my iPhone qualifies as a smart phone, I was all ears (pardon the Disney pun). The promo mentioned that to start the process of listening to Radio Disney on your smart phone, you need to text the word LISTEN to 347639 (which spells DISNEY on your phone). I couldn't resist trying something new and cool Excited to see how this worked, I quickly sent the text message and… Continue reading...
