Last night, my wife and I attended the Billy Joel, Elton John Face 2 Face concert. It's no surprise that, since our kids were born, we haven't been to a lot of concerts so I found it fascinating to people-watch throughout the concert. Even more fascinating was the tremendous use (and mis-use) of technology during the concert. I wish I could have talked to the people I observed but it was a little too crowded for that. But here's what I would have said: To the teenagers and 20 somethings: If you tell me you went to the concert I… Continue reading...

So I'm listening to Radio Disney with my kids in the car and I hear a promo saying that you can now listen to Radio Disney on your smart phone. Given that my iPhone qualifies as a smart phone, I was all ears (pardon the Disney pun). The promo mentioned that to start the process of listening to Radio Disney on your smart phone, you need to text the word LISTEN to 347639 (which spells DISNEY on your phone). With the explosion of the Internet, there are certainly no shortages of ways to promote and advertise your business. So when Scott Abel from the Content Wrangler posted on Twitter about a new way to promote your business on a t-shirt, my initial thought was "big deal." Reactee lets you effortlessly create a t-shirt containing a brief message of your choosing. That's not the cool part. The cool part is that Reactee also lets you choose a keyword… Continue reading...

My dad recently asked me to settle an argument between him and my mom. My mom said she heard on the news that "it is now possible, when your cell phone is in the on position, to listen in from anywhere. This includes 'sitting in' on board meetings and stealing company secrets if one of the participants has his or her cell phone on the table in the on position." My dad, on the other hand, doesn't buy a bit of this. When my dad first emailed this to me, I laughed at how preposterous this sounded. I was halfway… Continue reading...

I'm coming up on my 2-year anniversary with my iPhone and I still can't stop talking about how cool it is. I recommend it to almost everyone who asks me about it. But today I did the unthinkable. I told one of my clients NOT to get the iPhone. Why would I do this? Simple. My client has never owned or even used a cell phone before. She only decided she wants one for emergency purposes and for the rare occasions when she is outside of her home and needs to call someone to ask for directions. And she doesn't… Continue reading...
