A good friend of mine, Jason Bean, recently wrote a blog post titled Straight No Chaser Delivers the "Holiday Spirits" which caught my attention. Straight No Chaser is a local [Indianapolis] 10-man vocal group that got its big break when the Chairman/CEO of Atlantic records just happened upon on of their videos on YouTube. I finally got around to trying out the new Genius playlist feature in iTunes and I must say I am impressed. If you are not familiar with how the Genius playlist works, let me give you a brief noobie-esque run-down. The first step is to turn on, or enable, Genius in the iTunes application. This allows the iTunes software to scan through and categorize all of your music. Once this is done, the next step is to find a song in your iTunes music library that you feel like listening to. I've been declaring this for the past two years but I think it's time I go on record. Within the next three years, give or take a year, we are going to have a problem with electrical theft in our country. I'm not talking about black ski mask over the head, sneak around with a flashlight in the dark theft. Microsoft has taken a lot of heat lately mainly due to the bad press Windows Vista has received. But also because they have just sat back and let Apple attack them with their "Hello I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" ad campaign without firing back a single shot. Meanwhile, Apple has moved up to the third spot in computer sales and has been thriving off the media attention of their non-computer products such as the iPod, Apple TV and the iPhone. BabyCenter, the self-proclaimed "leading destination on the Internet for new and expectant parents" is running a poll on their web site asking moms, "Which tech gadget, electronic device, or technology can you not live without?" Choices include cell phone, PDA, microwave, email, Internet, GPS, TiVo, television, DVD player, digital music player, video game console, digital camera, other and none of the above.
