41 years ago Google didn't exist. But something incredible did happen that year (1970 to be exact). Sure, I'd like to say the incredible thing is that I was born but that wouldn't exactly be true. You see, the incredible thing happened shortly after I was born. I'm talking about the moment my parents gave me my name. Those of you who know me well know there is no "k" on the end of my first name. It's Patric, not Patrick. To this day, I still pass along my father's joke that he couldn't afford the extra letter back then.… Continue reading...

It might be surprising to hear me say this but I think that searching for flights on the Internet has become increasingly complicated. It's the old paralysis by analysis problem. There's just too much darn information available. Sometimes I even feel like I want to pick up the phone to talk to a real, live, human travel agent (gasp!) I've seen some crazy social networking applications developed over the years but this one may be worthy of the grand prize. It's called talkO'clock and it allows you to have a complete stranger wake you up in the morning. So goodbye computer automated wake-up calls (although talkO'clock uses these if no one volunteers to wake you up) or good ol' fashioned alarm clocks and hello creepy, awkward I-don't-know-you call. Watch the video below and you'll see what I mean. Then answer my two questions below the video. If you can not see the embedded video above please use the following… Continue reading...

Something interesting happened this morning. My Groupon email arrived with an offer for a business that I absolutely love. The offer was $3 for $6 of frozen treats from Ritter's Frozen Custard. And I love Ritter's Frozen Custard, especially one of their specialities called the Peanut Butter Mountain. I didn't bite But I didn't bite on the offer. I just let it go. Let it expire. Why? Because I was having one of those crazy out-of-control days and the thought of having to take 5 minutes out of my day to log in to the Groupon site, buy the offer,… Continue reading...

I stayed up late last night to watch the ABC Family original movie Cyberbully. I've been meaning to get around to it for a couple weeks now and boy am I glad I finally did. Cyberbully tackles the growing issue of bullying on the Internet. More specifically, on social networks like Facebook (they call it Clicksters in the movie). And let me tell you, this movie hits you with the issue dead in the face—exactly as it should. Cyberbully is targeted for teenagers, specifically teenagers in high school. And in my opinion, every parent with a middle school (not too… Continue reading...
