I love using my GPS to locate the nearest Starbucks or McDonald's while traveling. Or to make sure there is a gas station up the road when I feel I can go a few more exits before stopping for gas. Locations such as Starbucks, McDonald's and gas stations are known in the GPS world as points of interest, or POI. My GPS is loaded with hundreds of thousands of them. But little did I know there were thousands more to be had. After a presentation last Friday night, a gentleman walked up to me and asked me if I had… Continue reading...

I cringe every time I hear about a bank giving away a free digital camera or other consumer electronics product when you open a new account. Mainly because I know that whatever they give you is either going to be a piece of junk or an outdated model purchased in bulk from some clearance outlet. Another reason was that my car was broken into about a year ago. I was fortunate at that time to have left nothing of value in the car, something I practice… Continue reading...

I received a lot of great comments to that blog post including one from Michelle Hartz of Bloomington, Indiana, who sent me a link to an article on the Internet that took my blog post a step further by mentioning 10 things your great grandchildren won't remember. I'm not going to include a link to the original article because the web site containing the article is NSFW (click that link if you don't know this means). In order for me to still give proper… Continue reading...
