I have loads of technology gadgets. I subscribe to dozens of web sites and receive a constant stream of informational alerts and updates. So why is it that I nearly froze at the soccer field last night? It's bad enough the temperature dropped about 15 degrees but the wind on the wide open soccer field provided the icing on the cake. And there I was in shorts and a t-shirt, freezing. Sure, I have real-time weather updates on my iPhone. I just didn't think to look before I left the house. Sure, I receive email weather alerts for my zip… Continue reading...

My 5-year-old son was so excited today. He was showing me his new watch. It was a theme watch from the movie Cars. I looked at the watch and noticed it was an analog watch and after telling my son how cool his new watch was, I praised him and told him how proud I was that he bought an analog watch instead of a digital one. Of course he immediately asked me what I was talking about. I explained to my son the difference and how important it is to be able to tell time on an analog watch.… Continue reading...

My kids call the car I drive the Noobie van. They call it this because it's a minivan with Noobie vinyl decals on the back side windows. The are yoo a noobie? question spelled out on my minivan has always drawn lots of attention in parking lots, drive-thrus and even while tailgating at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Complete strangers have no problem approaching me to ask me what a noobie is. And I'm more than happy to explain it to them. *wink* A few days ago, I had to take the Noobie van back to my good friend… Continue reading...

I think it would look like this: The shelves would contain new releases only. I can't remember the last time I went to Blockbuster and rented anything other than a new release. It would only stock new releases that have 5 or… Continue reading...

Today is a special day for me. It's my birthday. Thought everyone might enjoy hearing how many ways there are to wish a techie happy birthday. Here's how I spent my day so far: Reading personal happy birthday emails from friends and family. Answering a phone call from an old business colleague and friend. Listening to voice mails on my mobile phone with stunning renditions of Happy Birthday. Reading a text message from an old business colleague that couldn't make lunch (don't worry, several others still made it). Browsing dozens of Twitter birthday wishes. Reading a special Happy Birthday Mr… Continue reading...
