I'd be willing to bet that if someone explained to you what Netflix is, the words DVDs and movies would be mentioned multiple times. I'd also be willing to bet that the phrase "television shows" is never mentioned. That's because most people aren't aware that Netflix also offers television shows in addition to its giant movie collection. Missed the final season of Sopranos? Netflix has you covered. Wondering how each of the characters in Heroes discovered their powers? Netflix has you covered again. To view the list of television shows available on DVD in Netflix just select Television as your… Continue reading...

Everybody loves an easy solution to their technology problems. Like this one. I received a call from a woman who told me that she had just moved into a new house. She went on to explain that she and her husband hooked up all of the components to their television in their new house but were seeing red streaks across the screen whenever they watched a DVD. She also mentioned that her satellite programming on her television looked just fine and did not have the same red streaks as the DVD player. It would only stock new releases that have 5 or… Continue reading...

Redbox sent me a survey this morning asking me to rate their service on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best. I gave them an 8 only because I've recently discovered a few flaws with the Redbox service. Not enough for me to stop using Redbox, but enough for me to not give them a 10. Unfortunately, the Redbox survey never really gave me a chance to express my opinion to them. They did offer a follow up question asking me what one area I'd like them to improve upon. But I could only pick one and… Continue reading...

Here's the next in a series of explanations of why noobies are so easily confused by technology. My dad recently received a video in the mail from someone he met during his travels to India. He wanted to share the video with me and asked me if I'd like to watch it. After I agreed, I asked what format the video was on. My dad replied that it was on CD but then paused and said, "Or maybe it's a DVD." He then asked a very logical noobie question: "How can I tell if it is a CD or a… Continue reading...
