Those of you that know me know that I use technology for everything. Need to know if it's going to rain today? Check the weather app on my iPhone. Need to remember when my library books are due? Send an email to Sandy and tell her to remind me. Trying to lose some weight? Jump on the Wii Fit. That's why I was so intrigued today that I didn't use a lick of technology when my day took a turn for the worse. Technology falls flat It started when I hopped back in the Noobie van after teaching Noobie's How… Continue reading...

I've been declaring this for the past two years but I think it's time I go on record. Within the next three years, give or take a year, we are going to have a problem with electrical theft in our country. I'm not talking about black ski mask over the head, sneak around with a flashlight in the dark theft. No, I'm talking about "borrowing" a little juice from your neighbor or place of employment when they're not looking. I say this because plug-in hybrid automobiles are just around the corner. And they drive this 1 or 2 ton hunk of metal 70 MPH on the Interstate just a few feet from hundreds of other… Continue reading...

Is it possible that GPS navigation systems could save lives? I think it is. Of course I'm partially biased because a woman almost ran me off the road today. Unfortunately, I didn't get a good look at the woman because she was wearing a large, unfolded paper map on her face. Now I'm not a driving instructor but I'm pretty sure this kind of driving is frowned upon. And if not, I'm definitely sure driving down the middle of a single lane road toward oncoming traffic while not paying a lick of attention to anything or anyone in front you… Continue reading...

The price for a gallon of gas at my local Speedway station reached $4.19. Well, technically $4.20 but nobody ever really includes that 9/10 of a cent when talking about gas prices. So what's a noobie to do about gas prices? Well, you can start by using the Internet to look for the cheapest gas prices before you leave home to fill your tank. Here's a couple of web sites to get you started: Gas Buddy Gas Prices - MSN Autos Or, if you are tried to a specific brand of gas, such as Speedway, go to the company's specific… Continue reading...
