Technology makes baseball game a huge hit

Last Friday night was one of the best family baseball game expierences ever for me. It started a couple of weeks ago when my wife received a phone call from Indianapolis Indians guest relations informing her that my 7-year-old son had won Culver's Junior Announcer contest, meaning he would get to announce the first Indianapolis Indians batter in the game.

My son was thrilled with the news and immediately began practicing his announcement with fake names like Michael Jackson. A small part of me was worried he would forget to substitute the real batter's name for Michael Jackson come game time!

When the time came, I was of course right there with my Flip video camera ready to capture the moment. Here is the result:

After my son's announcement I thought we would just sit back and enjoy the rest of the game. Boy was I wrong.

Just a few short minutes later the emcee came back to our seats and asked my older son if he would like to be on the big screen as the lucky seat winner of the day. All he had to do was tell everyone his favorite animal.

Of course I was there once again to capture everything on video:

Nope, we're not done yet.

Somewhere around the 4th or 5th inning, they announced a Twitter contest. The first 8 people to tweet their seat location to @IndyIndians would win 2 tickets to an upcoming air show.

Guess who had their iPhone with him?

So by the end of the night, both my sons were on the big screen and I had won two tickets to an air show. Throw in the free food and goodies my son won for being the junior announcer and it was a night we will all remember for a long time!

P.S. If you are wondering about Mrs. Noobie, we tried like mad to win something for her too, but we eventually ran out of innings!
