Rock n’ roll and TiVo cookies
Happy new year everyone! I hope you had the same relaxing and enjoyable holiday break as me. Yes, even a techie needs to take a break every once in a while which is why this is the first you've heard from me in over two weeks. But now I'm refreshed and ready to take on 2009 so let's get to it.
Ever wonder what Santa (and his helpers) brings a techie like me for Christmas? Well, it isn't easy. As my wife likes to remind me, "You've already bought every technology thing you want." But despite the challenge, my wife still managed to come up with a gem. That gem is called Rock Band for the Nintendo Wii.
If you haven't heard of Rock Band, picture a family of four crowded around the television. One in front of a set of drum pads with a pair of drum sticks in his hand, another with a lead guitar, another with a bass guitar and the last one with a microphone in her hand. Queue up the rock and roll music and you've got a full-fledged rock concert in your own home.
Of course it's all simulated but at times you may have to remind me I'm not really playing.
Betcha don't have this TiVo accessory
And just when I thought I had every TiVo accessory I needed, Santa surprised me with one more. Behold the TiVo cookie cutter. While not the most elaborate of the TiVo accessories, the TiVo cookie cutter is a big hit in my household (well, with me anyway). Who knows, I might even bring some TiVo cookies to one of Noobie's upcoming events!
Speaking of upcoming events, you can expect a lot of new ways to learn from Noobie this year. I won't let the cat out of the bag yet but you can expect some exciting announcements in the next few months. Stay tuned.

Hi Patrick! Nice Christmas presents! I read that the popularity of Guitar Hero is increasing the number of people taking guitar lessons. With REAL guitars. We can only hope the same will be true of other instruments for the Rock Band game. I wonder if the Scottish version has bagpipes…

@Jerry I can believe what you said. We have both Guitar Hero and Rock Band and my 7yo and 5yo both play the guitars now without looking at either hand. And they play the drums about as good as any beginner taking lessons. I’ve already thought about getting them a real guitar as you mentioned. Of course, I played the drums as a kid so I might have to bite the bullet and spoil them with a drum set some day.
P.S. No problem on the name.

Thanks for your reply, Patric. Your children are a great age to start their bagpipe lessons as well. The world has plenty of guitar players and drummers...don’t you agree?
