Paying it forward: the final chapter to my Best Buy plush penguin story

As the final chapter to my Best Buy plush penguin saga and the feel-good moment of the day for me, I'd like to send a congratulations to Ryan Crozier for leaving what I felt was the most compelling reason to win the Madagascar DVD.

If you are not sure what I am talking about, I'm referring to the last chapter of the Best Buy plush penguin story. Those of you that hung around and made it to the end of that blog post found this paragraph in italics:

P.S. Congratulations, you made it through the entire story. To reward you and because I already have the original Madagascar movie on DVD, I'd like to make you this offer. If you would like a chance to win one of the Madagascar DVDs (I'm giving away one here and raffling the other off at my sons' school), leave a comment on this blog post and let me know why you think you should win the Madagascar DVD. I'll choose the best comment (based solely on my discretion) on Friday, March 6, 2009 and that lucky person will receive the Madagascar DVD for free. Be sure to enter your email address (in the email field which is not publicly displayed) when leaving a comment so I know how to contact you. Good luck!

Ryan left this comment to the blog post:

Hey Patric!

I love it when big companies empower people to do extraordinary things!
If I were to receive the DVD... I'll give it to my wife for the Children's Program at Sheltering Wings Domestic Violence Shelter.

A bit about Sheltering Wings

I asked Ryan to tell me a little bit more about the Sheltering Wings Domestic Violence Shelter. He happily obliged and, if you permit me to stray from technology for a paragraph or two in the name of a good cause, here is what he sent me.

Our Vision
Sheltering Wings was formed in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ. The Center will extend the love and compassion of Christ to women and their children in the desperate circumstances of domestic violence. Christ was never coercive or offensive, and neither are the services provided by the Center. Our assistance to any victim of any background will be offered in the name of Christ.

Our Mission
Sheltering Wings provides emergency housing for women and children suffering from any form of domestic abuse. We build stable and independent lives through essential programs offered in a supportive and Christ-centered environment.

Giving away the Madagascar DVD and knowing it will put smiles on the face of children, especially these children, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Thank you Ryan!
