My Starbucks idea is apparently everyone’s Starbucks idea
Starbucks recently announced a new web site called My Starbucks Idea. Consumers visiting the site can share their ideas with Starbucks to help shape the future of Starbucks (their words, not mine).
When I first heard about this site an idea immediately popped into my head. Wouldn't it be great if Starbucks could tie my favorite drink to my Starbucks gift card? That way I could just walk into a Starbucks, swipe my gift card and the barista would be instantly notified of my request for a grande skinny cinnamon dolce latte.
I thought it would be fun to add this idea to the site but I figured I should at least check out the existing ideas first. That's when I saw this:
Automatic ordering via swipe of card
Starbucks should enable customers to encode their usual customized drink orders on their Starbucks cards and have a scanner available in the front of the store so customers can walk in the store, scan their cards and automatically have the orders 1) paid for off of the card, and 2) sent directly to the barista so the customers can bypass the traditional order line and are ensured that their orders are received correctly.
As you can see, someone beat me to the punch. In fact, as of right now, 1,651 people beat me to the punch based on this idea's point total of 16,510 (an idea gets 10 points added to the total each time someone votes for it).
Looks like I better come up with another idea.
