If technology is so great, why am I freezing?
I have loads of technology gadgets. I subscribe to dozens of web sites and receive a constant stream of informational alerts and updates. So why is it that I nearly froze at the soccer field last night?
It's bad enough the temperature dropped about 15 degrees but the wind on the wide open soccer field provided the icing on the cake. And there I was in shorts and a t-shirt, freezing.
Sure, I have real-time weather updates on my iPhone. I just didn't think to look before I left the house.
Sure, I receive email weather alerts for my zip code but the temperature dropping from 75 to 60 degrees isn't exactly grounds for a weather alert.
Sure, my TiVo automatically downloads a brief 3 minute weather video every morning but I didn't watch television that day.
So I guess technology failed me. And will continue to fail me until someone starts a service that recognizes sudden drops in temperature and sends a text message to my phone telling me, "Better grab a long sleeve shirt and a jacket. It's getting cold out there."
