I finally found something I don’t like about Google

  • Posted: July 22, 2010  Topics: Internet

I never thought I'd say anything bad about Google but I guess all good things must come to an end. Albeit this is only a minor infraction as far as I'm concerned.

I think Google is messing too much with their logo. It used to be a fun surprise when you'd visit the Google page and see a creative twist on their logo (affectionately known as a Doodle) for St. Patrick's Day or Halloween. But now it seems that just about every day Google has done something new with their logo.

And they don't seem as fun any more. And they certainly don't come as a surprise. Ok, with the exception of the playable version of Pac-Man on Pac-Man's 25th anniversary.

Am I alone on this? Does anyone still get excited to see each new variation of the Google logo? Or is it growing old with you too? Leave a comment and let me know. I'd love to hear what you think.

  • You go to the google.com website? Weird. ;)

  • Andy, ironically I don’t. But even search results in browsers like Chrome return the results on a page with the Google logo.

  • I haven’t paid too much attention, but I guess I didn’t notice that the little logo on the top left was ever NOT the stock logo. Hmm, I’ll keep an eye out.

  • Sorry, you might be alone. I love when they change their logo. I actually search directly through their site for that reason. They don’t do it all the time, so it is fun when they do. And it is always for a reason. So it is fun to see why, each time.

  • @Kriss - Thanks for your comment. Maybe I am alone on this. Funny thing is when I went back to look at all of the past doodles, I thought some of them were really cool. Like the World Cup Final one. I think it’s just the frequency that is bugging me.
