I didn’t think TiVo could get any better but it just did

I did a double-take when I read my TiVo email newsletter today. I thought I was seeing things. It said you can now watch YouTube videos right from your TiVo. The newsletter included a screenshot of a familiar TiVo screen but with a new YouTube item. I didn't read another word of the newsletter. Instead I ran straight to my family room and brought up the TiVo menu.

It was right around this time that I remembered that I had recently received the TiVo summer service upgrade on my TiVo HD DVR. I had read all of the highlights of the service upgrade but didn't remember reading anything about YouTube.

Within seconds, YouTube on my TiVo was a reality. There it was sitting right below Amazon Unbox on the Download TV, Movies & Web Video menu. Come to think of it, I don't remember the words Web Video on the menu item title before either.

I started with the Featured Videos section and quickly found the video below that I actually hadn't seen before.

Cute video but I couldn't stop there. I knew my YouTube on TiVo experience wouldn't be complete without watching one of my own YouTube videos. So I did a search for "Favre Family Night" and immediately found my own video sitting third on the list of search results. If you'll permit a moment of blatant self-promotion, here is the video I am referring to:

Well done TiVo. If I could give a TiVo "thumbs up" from my remote on the upgrade, I would.

1 comment for this blog post so far...

  • As if I didn’t miss my TiVo enough since upgrading to AT&T;U-verse. This is exactly the type of thing they needed to do. They need to make it easier for them to work with services like U-verse though.
