I didn’t know you could do that
I never know which is worse. The fact that someone doesn't know how to do something with a piece of technology they own or the fact that the companies manufacturing the technology don't bother to explain or just assume its users will know how to do it.
Case in point. I saw a woman deleting one text message at a time from her inbox on her cell phone. When I inquired why she was doing this, she replied, "This is how I clear out my inbox when it's full."
I followed-up by asking her why she just didn't delete all of the messages at once. Anyone want to guess her response?
10 points if you answered "I didn't know you could do that."
A few minutes of Noobie instruction time later, she had every message deleted from her inbox with just a couple of key presses along with the knowledge on how to do so again in the future.
I take back what I said earlier. I know which is worse. It's the technology companies and shame on you for assuming your users will know how to do everything.
