How to get a cruise for $69

  • Posted: June 27, 2011  Topics: General

If you follow me on Facebook, you've no doubt noticed that I've spent quite a lot of time traveling over the past 18 months. I've been to local destinations like Nashville and Las Vegas and family destinations like Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. I've even expanded my international boundaries with a trip to Ireland. And just a few weeks ago I returned from a wine tour vacation in Sonoma, California.

Next month, I'll be taking the family back to the Wisconsin Dells and then I'll end the year on a cruise to the Bahamas with my wife in December.

Vacation Collage 2010-2011

I realize it sounds like I'm bragging but that is not my intent for this blog post. My intent is to answer the question that dozens of you have been asking me: How are you taking all of these trips?

The answer is simple. I've joined a leisure and lifestyle club called DreamTrips Life that allows me to take all of these trips at wholesale prices.

Don't believe me? Well, my 4 day, 3 night trip to the Wisconsin Dells with a kitchen-included villa on the golf course, including full-access water park passes for 6 people for all 4 days cost me only $498 (total, not per night).

That wine tour I took in Sonoma which included 3 nights in the hotel, an all-day wine tour and a private wine and appetizer reception the first night cost me just $273 per person.

And finally, that cruise I'm taking to the Bahamas in December? $69 per person.

There's tons of other benefits to DreamTrips Life but I couldn't possibly explain it any better than this video. Watch for yourself to see what I mean.

If you are interested in joining DreamTrips Life yourself, email me at and I'll get you hooked up.

  • WOW! I’m definitely interested in learning more.  When you take these trips, are you traveling with a group of people?  Do you have a certain itinerary to hold, or are you on your own?  Do the trips “sell out” often, or have you been able to find trips you want in the time you want?  Any downsides yet?

  • Katie, here’s the answers to your questions. The trips are technically “group” trips but whether or not you hang out with the group is completely up to you. If you want to do your own thing on the trip, that’s perfectly fine! Same goes for the itinerary. You can go your own way the entire time if you want (unless it is a bus tour or something of that sort but most aren’t). But if there is something included with the trip (like the wine tour in my last trip), you’ll definitely want to take advantage of it since it is included with the trip.

Yes, some trips sell out. It usually depends on how popular they are and/or how many people they can book for the trip. Something like my wine tour took 22 people but trips to Cabo can often handle 200-300 people.

The only downside I can think of is that I can’t find a way to take more trips! I’m taking 3 this year but would love to take at least 5 or 6 each year.

  • Does this service have deals for single travelers?  The single’s surcharge on most packages is outrageous.

    Patric,
If you want to know of some great places in the Bahama’s let me know I used to rep the Islands. Each island has a completely different flavor.
    Give me a bus

  • Where’s my free radio. Isn’t that what you get when you sit through timeshare-like sales pitches ;o).

  • Wendy, most of the trips are priced “per person based on double occupancy”. So the single rate is *usually* double the listed price. But I have seen in some instances where they list a separate single rate that is only slightly higher than the listed rate. I guess it depends on each trip.

Your best bet is to get a friend to join with you and then plan.take your trips together.

  • Kris, you mean I was supposed to get a free radio? Darn it, I’m always the last to know! But seriously, been there done that on the time-share (high pressure) presentations. These trips aren’t time shares. They are trips bought in bulk, like Sam’s Club or Costco. There’s no commitment to take a trip nor do you have to find someone to “use your timeslot” every year. Rather, you just take a trip whenever you want.

    DIANE GARNER

Is airfare included in these prices?

  • How long do you have to pay the monthly fee?  Can you cancel anytime?  I only saw login and sign-up options on the webpage.  Would love to read the fine print before signing up.

  • Diane, airfare is included in some trips but the majority of the trips do not include it.

Carrie, there is no commitment at all. You can cancel at any time with no penalties.
