Great technology tips submitted by you!

One of the things I love about writing a blog is all of the great comments I get from my readers. Last week when I wrote Take a picture, it will last longer, I asked at the end if anyone else had used technology in a creative way.

Right off the bat, I got 3 great responses. Check these out:

asudduth: I've also taken pictures to make my own life easier—I needed to see something behind something - like the model number on the back of the TV or something like that that was hard to get to. If you can get a camera there and not your head, you may be able to do just that.

Doug: Many times I have been working on my motorcycle or a vehicle (drum brakes....yuck), and have taken a picture to ensure I can get something back together. I have also taken pictures to my local parts store to ensure I get the correct part before removing the bad part. Works like a charm.

Suz: I took a picture of my printer because I couldn't seem to remember the model# to buy the right stupid cartridge. Voila, no more return trips to exchange the wrong model cartridge AGAIN!

I'd even take assudduth's suggestion one step further and make a mental note to snap a picture of the back of your electronics (television, receivers, DVD players, computers, etc.) before you install them so you always have a record of what the serial number is, what various ports (connections) you have and where they are located.

Thanks everyone and keep up the great suggestions!

  • Funny… I never thought of it as a hack… however I take pictures of things around the house as I’m working on projects.  Example… I had to replace the insides of my toilet tank.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to need when I got to the hardware store.  So snapped a picture of everything (including holding a ruler up the the parts that looked like I’d need to decide on size) and voila, I showed the snapshots to the friendly guy at the store and got exactly what I needed, saving me time and money :)

  • Tracy, another great idea. Thanks!!
