Facebook takes me back 15 years

Facebook

Social networking site Facebook made my day yesterday when I received an invitation to become friends with someone I haven't heard from in nearly 15 years. The invitation was from Scott, a buddy of mine from my high school days.

I quickly accepted the invitation from Scott and within seconds was looking at his Facebook profile. It was fun seeing where Scott went to college and where he obtained his masters degree. And discovering where he now lives and works was like having a mini virtual reunion with him.

I wrote on Scott's Facebook wall (like leaving a message for someone that everyone can read) and within another hour or so, Scott contacted me via email. The entire experience was pleasant and painless.

This is in stark contrast to my experiences with Classmates.com which I have written about previously. The score is now Facebook: 1, Classmates.com: 0.

  • It was quite a surprise when I logged in to Facebook for the first time and found you so quickly. Equally great to make contact again and find out how well your business and blog are going. Looking forward to catching up over a few cold ones in the near future. Great blog!
