Domino’s, Netflix and TiVO - two out of three ain’t bad

TiVo has released a lot of new features over the past few weeks. First it was the ability to order Domino's pizza. Then it was Netflix video on demand. And now it's TiVo mobile for your cell phone. While I haven't had the chance to fully test drive TiVo Mobile, I have put the Domino's pizza ordering and Netflix video on demand through the ringer.

While I'd love to tell you that I breezed through the pizza ordering and video streaming, that isn't the case. One was a royal pain in the neck and the other a dream come true. Care to guess which was which?

One miss and one hit

If you guessed that the Domino's pizza ordering was the royal pain, give yourself a point. And believe me, to say that it was a royal pain is an understatement. In fact, words can't even describe the experience, which is why I used my Flip video camera to record the entire experience.

As for the Netflix video streaming, TiVo and Netflix scored a definite A+. I'm still dumb-founded how easy it is use and how well it works. I even forgot for a while that I originally signed up for Netflix to get movies by mail.

I may give the Domino's pizza ordering another chance some day. As a techie, I'm well aware of the issues that can rear their ugly head on release day. But meanwhile, I'll give TiVo Mobile a shot and wait in anticipation for the next big feature announcement from TiVo.
