Do you need technical support for your refrigerator?
Not everything in my life relates to technology. Take for instance my recent trip to Best Buy to see their selection of new refrigerators. Ok, so Best Buy is pretty much a technology store but I don't consider refrigerator shopping high up on the technology experience chart.
After browsing a few different models, my wife (who was with me) and I locked down on a particular model we both liked. It was a side-by-side with an ice and water dispenser built into the freezer side. Not quite the stainless steel with integrated computer and touch-screen model I dream of, but it would do just fine.
As we were putting the refrigerator through our series of intricate and specialized tests (opening and shutting the doors), I noticed a sign on the outside door. It said that Geek Squad Black Tie Protection was available for the refrigerator for only $249.
I don't get it
Am I missing something here? When your refrigerator breaks or needs repair, is your first thought to call the Geek Squad? My computer, maybe. But my refrigerator?
The only thing even remotely techie about the refrigerator were a couple of cool back-lit buttons to select crushed or whole ice cubes. Do you some people perhaps need training on how to use these buttons? Or if one of them stops working, do we really need a technician to come out and run a series of diagnostics against the ice cube button?
Someone help me out here.

Typically I like to post comments to add value… Unfortunately I have no useful information today and apologize in advance in case I am the only one amused with this comment.
I just wanted to say this could be a very easy job.
“Yes, you were getting crushed ice because button one was pressed. Please press button two to fix”
“Unfortunately the ice dispenser doesn’t function when the electricity is shut off”
Have YOU rebooted your fridge recently? ;)
If not, can you please go to help > about and let me know what version of FridgeOS you’re running?

@asudduth: Glad I’m not the only one bewildered by the whole refrigerator tech support thing.
