Make a Living... LIVING!

Complete my album

I’ve been in love with my iPod and the iTunes software for several years now. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I bought a CD at a retail store. It’s just too darn easy to open up iTunes, go to the iTunes Store and buy the album, often for a couple of dollars cheaper than the CD would have cost me. Not to mention I can preview each song to make sure I really like the album before I buy it.

There’s always been one catch though. Sometimes I buy just one or two songs but then wish later that I had bought the entire album. If I go back to buy the album, I don’t get a credit on the price for the songs I have already purchased. That is, until now.

This week, Apple announced its “Complete My Album” service, best described by this email from the iTunes Store that caught my eye:

“Did you know that if you’ve purchased one or more songs from an eligible album, you may now be able to buy the rest of the album at a reduced price? You have up to six months after first downloading a song from an eligible album to purchase the remainder of the album.”

Well done, Apple. And thank you.

By the way, if you want to know what albums you are eligible for, just open up the iTunes software, click the iTunes Store and look for the new Complete My Album link. Click the link and you will see a list of your eligible albums along with the discounted price you’ve earned.
