I've seen this so-called brain study show up on Facebook a few times recently and it perplexes me every time. It's a series of letters and numbers that can actually be read as English sentences. Supposedly, only certain people are able to read it.

What perplexes me is that I didn't even blink an eye over it. I just read it straight through the first time, without any hesitation. And because of that, I assume that everyone else can do the same. In other words, I'm not a 100% believer that some people can't read it.

So let's put it to the test. The image below contains the sentences. Can you read them? Leave a comment and give me a yay or nay.

  • I find it hard to believe that many people can’t read it.  If I tried too hard, it was a bit harder to read, but if I just relaxed and read it naturally, I had no problem reading it.

  • it wasn’t hard, are you sure only certain people can read it?

  • I have seen this in multiple forms over the last few years ... I do not remember anyone ever saying they could not translate it (for that is what the brain is doing).

It takes some of us a line or two to get going full force but it seems to happen. And yes, I am assuming we are all reasonably literate folk ... those who have not had the opportunity to really learn to read might have different results.

  • I can read it with no problems.

  • I can read it too. Now I’m curious to know if anyone can’t read it.

  • Strangely, when I was tutoring an ABE student, my student was able to read one of the jumbled versions quite easily but on the ‘proper’ version he had quite a hard time!  I wonder what that means?  I contacted the Adult Learning Center but they had no clue of the cause or meaning either.

  • Able to read it just fine....

  • Ditto!  Qu173 1MPR3551V3!

  • Based on everyone’s comments, I am now REALLY convinced this isn’t nearly as hard as the people who share this make it out to be. Thanks for your comments everyone!
