Are you ready for 3D-TV?
If you haven't heard the buzz lately, 3D television is headed our way. As early as this summer if you have DIRECTV.
When I first read the 3D television announcement, I was immediately taken back to a question my wife asked me when we bought our current 42" LCD television. She asked, "If we spend this much on a television, is it going to last 10 years or are you going to want to buy something newer 2 years from now?"
In my best George Washington voice, I explained to my wife that there was no way I could guarantee 10 years on the television. After all I own a technology company, right? Obviously that wasn't the answer she was hoping for but we managed to agree to try to make the television last as long as possible before jumping on the next shiny new technology.
Shiny new 3D
So now I wonder. Is 3D television the next shiny new technology? And will I want (maybe even need) to buy a new television by the end of this year? According to an article on ConsumerReports.org, my current television fails the test to be considered 3D-ready. That's not helping my cause of trying to keep my television another few years.
What about you? If 3D television is all its cracked up to be, will you run out and buy a new 3D-ready television? Will you sit on your sofa wearing special 3D glasses? Please take a second to let me know your thoughts by voting in the poll below

I’ve been reading about this 3D thing lately...especially since I am just finishing my theater room basememtn and have a newLCD projector...which btw, is not 3D capable. And I am not sure I want to plunk down $200 x 5 (people in my family) oh wait you should have extras for visitors for the glasses. At least that is what I heard they cost.

Doug - Wow, $200 for the glasses? Really? If that’s true, my kids can kiss any chance of watching 3D! Unless they offer $2 disposable kid versions!
