There's a lot of buzz circulating on the Internet right now about Kodak Gallery's decision to start charging for online photo storage on their web site. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. First of all, Kodak Gallery is in business to sell digital prints and other photo-related products. Not to host everyone's digital pictures for free. And second, the dollar amount they are charging for storage is fair and reasonable. One or two orders per year and you're covered If you keep under 2 GB of digital photos (common for most noobies) on the Kodak Gallery web… Continue reading...

I had some downtime this morning between appointments so I decided to swing by a nearby Starbucks to enjoy a latte and write this blog post. The original topic of this blog post was not supposed to be about Starbucks and their wireless Internet access but circumstances forced me to change the topic. It all started when I tried to connect my laptop to Starbucks' wireless Internet. I was able to connect to the wireless network ok but got stuck when trying to get past the proxy page. I thought all was good until a few minutes later,… Continue reading...

I cringe every time I hear about a bank giving away a free digital camera or other consumer electronics product when you open a new account. Mainly because I know that whatever they give you is either going to be a piece of junk or an outdated model purchased in bulk from some clearance outlet. That's why when I drove by a billboard today for Key Bank that mentioned a free GPS for opening a new account, I couldn't wait to get home to find out which GPS model it was so I could prove my point to my readers.… Continue reading...

One of the best Mother's Day gifts my kids ever gave my wife was a personalized "Why We Love Our Mommy" photo book from Kodak Gallery. The book contained a few dozen photos depicting all of the wonderful things my wife does for our kids. Ok, admittedly, they had a little help from their techie dad putting the book together but it meant the same to my wife regardless. My point is, it's the personalization that really made the gift one to treasure. So listen up sons and daughters. Mother's Day will be here sooner than you know it and… Continue reading...
