I have met dozens of techie people over the years, many of which don't understand why Noobie is still in business. This is usually because they assume that since they know how to use their computer, cell phone and every other gadget they own, that the rest of the world does too. If you are reading this, you probably know how wrong those "other" techie people are. A recently concluded Noobie poll adds further evidence. The poll asked the following question, "How many of the following television features do you understand: LCD; 1080p; 120Hz; Contrast Ratio; Response Time; DLNA?" A… Continue reading...

One of the things software companies do that really irritates me is tricking users into doing something they didn't ask to do. As I was drafting my reply, I looked up and noticed that I had inadvertently typed Google instead of Goodwill. I laughed for a second then backspaced over Goodwill to fix my typo. Guess what I typed the second time? You got it, Google. So apparently Google has become so ingrained in my mind that I am now unable to type any other company… Continue reading...

My dad recently sent me this joke and it struck a funny chord with me. Those who know my Wisconsin roots and technology background will appreciate the humor as well. Read on to enjoy the lighter side of technology. After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago. Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, a California archaeologist dug to a depth… Continue reading...
