Have you ever been stuck in your closet trying to figure out what to wear? All of the usual questions cross your mind. Is it warm enough out for this shirt? Does this shirt go with these pants? Didn't I just wear this a couple of days ago? This week's technology I'd like to see solves all of this. It's a digital closet. Think of a big database that stores all of the information about your clothes that can be accessed using a touch screen panel with a built-in scanner in your closet. I think I'd start by tagging all… Continue reading...

Back in July I wrote on my blog that I had become an iPhone appaholic. At that time, I had 20 applications on my iPhone. Now I have 57. But here's what is interesting. I scanned through all of the applications on my iPhone this morning and realized that there are really only 3 applications that I use on a regular basis. Technology falls flat It started when I hopped back in the Noobie van after teaching Noobie's How… Continue reading...

I've seen dozens of reality shows over the past decade. Most of them never really stuck with me, but a few of them caught my fancy. One such reality show that I never miss is the Amazing Race. I was especially excited when this season's Amazing Race kicked off because I could finally watch it in high definition. Unfortunately, CBS, apparently didn't share my enthusiasm. When I started watching the first episode, I thought something was wrong with my television. "Why are there black bars on the left and right of the screen?" I thought to myself. I fiddled with… Continue reading...

Sometimes techies take things for granted. Like thinking that everyone, even noobies, knows what the little padlock icon in Internet Explorer or Firefox represents. If you're not familiar with what I'm talking about look at the two images below. The top image shows the padlock in Internet Explorer. The bottom image shows the padlock in Firefox. The red arrow in the image above points to the location of the padlock icon in Internet Explorer 7. The red arrow in the image above points to the location of the padlock icon in Firefox 3. Why are these padlocks so important? Because… Continue reading...
