Not too long ago, I told my blog readers how fax machines are becoming obsolete. I'm ready to add another item to that obsolete list—the library card catalog. Over the weekend, my 7-year-old son asked me if I could take him to the public library. He wanted to get a couple of new books to read. Of course, being a dad I was thrilled to hear this from my son so we both jumped into the car and headed to the library. When we arrived, my son walked through the doors and made a beeline to one of the open…

Someone recently asked me what the best option was to get Microsoft PowerPoint for her teenage son. Her son was working on a project for school and could only work on it at school since she didn't have the software at home. Recently, I was asked whether it is better to rent or purchase a cable modem when upgrading to a broadband (high-speed) Internet connection from a local cable company. SanDisk, a company best known for making flash memory cards, has sent me a free SanDisk Mobile Ultra High Performance 8GB microSDHC Card with Reader under the pretense that I give it away for free as part of a contest. I'm happy to oblige. But before I announce the rules of the contest, I need to get a couple of things straight. First, I am not getting paid or receiving any compensation from SanDisk for running this contest. I also am under no obligation to say anything nice or give…

I have 4 televisions in my house. Since I dropped DIRECTV last spring, I have only been able to watch television on 2 of them. This is because I now require an antenna to pull in the analog or digital signals currently transmitting over the air and I only have 2 indoor antennas. 2 antennas, 2 televisions that I can watch. I have digital converter boxes for the other 2 televisions but they aren't doing me any good without an antenna hooked up to them. But at this point, I feel like I am spending too much on individual antennas…
