Today is a special day for me. It's my birthday. Thought everyone might enjoy hearing how many ways there are to wish a techie happy birthday. Here's how I spent my day so far: Reading personal happy birthday emails from friends and family. Answering a phone call from an old business colleague and friend. Listening to voice mails on my mobile phone with stunning renditions of Happy Birthday. Reading a text message from an old business colleague that couldn't make lunch (don't worry, several others still made it). Browsing dozens of Twitter birthday wishes. Reading a special Happy Birthday Mr…

Redbox sent me a survey this morning asking me to rate their service on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best. I gave them an 8 only because I've recently discovered a few flaws with the Redbox service. Not enough for me to stop using Redbox, but enough for me to not give them a 10. Dear DISH Network: I am writing you to let you know that as a consumer I think Turbo HD is a horrible name. What exactly is turbo about your high definition programming? The combination of Olympics and technology puzzles me. Michael Phelps won the 2008 Olympic gold medal in the 100m butterfly by 1/100th of a second. Thanks to high precision sensors on the swimming wall that must be touched by each swimmer as he or she finishes an event, it can’t get any closer than that without being a tie. So why is it that in 2008 we still need two guys to stand out in the shot put field that run to the first spot on the ground the ball hits to determine the official distance? If these same two…
