Ask any young adult living on their own how you can reach them and they will most certainly give you their cell phone number. While, this may seem logical because it is easier to get a hold of them using their cell phone number, the truth of the matter is most of them don't have a traditional land line (wired phone) in their house or apartment. While the rest of us grew up with a land line and then gradually adopted cell phones, young adults grew up with cell phones and see absolutely no need for a land line. Ask… Continue reading...

From the "here's another reason text messaging is becoming so popular" department, I just read an article on CNN's web site describing how doctors are experimenting using text messages as reminders to adolescents with asthma or diabetes to take their medication. Although this seems a bit like a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach, I think it is a great idea. These days you can't find a teenager without a cell phone surgically attached to his or her hand. And the bulk of the usage of their cell phones is spent texting back and forth to friends. I knew he wanted a new game for his Nintendo DS so I started in the video game department. One of the first games I noticed, Animal Crossing, was one I knew my son wanted. I was excited because instead of the normal white price tag that all of the other games next to it had, this game had a bright yellow tag that read $34.99. I thought to myself, this has to… Continue reading...

Last week, I received a brand new Logitech Harmony One remote control and I paid a grand total of $0.00 for it. I just checked on Amazon.com and this thing is selling for just under $220. How did I receive a $220 remote control for free? The same way I received Take 5 candy bars, Nivea face cream, Atkins Advantage Bars, a Sonicare electric toothbrush and much, much, more--and all with the same zero dollar price tag. Now before you think that all these companies love to give their new products to me for free, let me explain. I'm what's… Continue reading...
