Q: I just purchased an Apple iPod Shuffle (2nd generation), and when I try to load music on it from the iTunes Store it shows that it copied, but the iPod device doesn’t recognize any music stored. There were bare minimal instructions that came with the iPod, and I’m going crazy wrestling with this thing and my computer just to get even an audio CD loaded on it. HELP! A: One of the drawbacks with the iPod Shuffle is that it doesn’t have any display screen. This can sometimes make it difficult to know whether your music was copied correctly.… Continue reading...

Q: A new software program I am installing requires me to be at 800 x 600 resolution. When I try to go to that resolution, it pauses for a few seconds and then goes right back to my standard 640 x 480 resolution. Why can’t I go to 800 x 600 resolution? A: When you change your video resolution as you describe, you should see a window appear confirming the new resolution and giving you 15 seconds to accept the new resolution. If you are not seeing that window, it may be possible that you are unable to go to… Continue reading...

Think of it like someone you know giving you the street address to a really good bakery but when you get in your car and… Continue reading...

Q: Whenever I go to my MySpace page, my computer asks me if I want to remember the password. I always click No but the other day I accidentally clicked Yes. Now it never asks me for my password any more. I don’t like that anyone using my computer can go directly to my MySpace page without a password. How do I get my computer to stop doing this and ask me for my password again? A: Whether or not your Internet browser automatically enters a user name and password for you is generally maintained as an option in your… Continue reading...

Every once in a while I come across a web site that really tickles my fancy. Today, I discovered Jott, a web site that boasts voice-powered, hands-free Messaging and To Do Lists. Here’s how Jott works. You create a free account which includes entering your cell phone number. Jott then sends a quick verification text message to your cell phone and asks you to call a toll-free number to complete the account setup process. Why the cell phone verification? Because it’s the brains behind Jott. Ever been out and about and a thought hits you that you know you will… Continue reading...
