Q: My teenage daughter asked me if she could have her own MySpace account. I don’t know a lot about MySpace except for what I’ve heard about in the news. Is it safe? A: MySpace is what is referred to as a social networking web site and is very popular among teenagers. People create their own MySpace pages which usually include a photo of themselves along with a profile giving out information such as what city they live in, what school they attend or what their favorite movie is. Once someone has his or her MySpace page set up, he… Continue reading...

Q: How do I get the music I downloaded from LimeWire on to my iPod? A: In order to get any music on to your iPod you need to do so through the iTunes interface. Once you fire up the iTunes software, go to the File menu and look for two options. The first is “Add File to Library” and the second is “Add Folder to Library”. Q: How do I know if these e-mails I get warning me of new viruses are legitimate? A: My initial response is to tell you not to worry when you receive e-mails like this. But that is only true if you are already running anti-virus software and have been keeping it up to date. If you have, you most likely already have the update to protect you against any legitimate virus mentioned in an e-mail to you. If you are just curious about the legitimacy of the e-mail, head on over to Snopes.com. This web site is an online archive… Continue reading...

Q: Lately I’ve had to reboot my computer at least once a day. Is that normal and if not, what could be causing the computer to need constant rebooting? A: The first thing I would want to know is the reason you are having to reboot the computer. Is it because the computer is locking up or because it is running excessively slow? If the computer is locking up (keyboard or mouse are unresponsive, windows stop responding) you may have a virus or spyware that is wreaking havoc with the computer. The first step I would take would be to… Continue reading...
