I was a client’s site the other day and he was mentioning how with his nice, new, big monitor he hated having to move his mouse so far over to the right of the screen just to click the scroll bar. Worse yet, he said the up arrow and down arrow of the scroll bar were miles apart which made it even more frustrating. I told him to forget about clicking the scroll bars and to just use the scroll wheel on his mouse. I could tell by the look on his face that he didn’t know what I was… Continue reading...

Most of the noobies I talk to that have high speed Internet access love it. They don’t have to wait for dial-up or deal with busy signals. The Internet is just there. They don’t have to think about it. And, most importantly, it’s fast. That is until they try uploading files to the Internet. That’s why I’ve started… Continue reading...

My idea was to place a small wristband on my child and then use radio frequency (RF) to communicate between my child’s wristband and some kind of locator device that I would keep on me. Even better, I thought would be if the devices sounded some kind of alarm when the distance between my child’s device and mine exceeded some pre-set maximum. Well, I never… Continue reading...

This morning I was enjoying my breakfast while leafing through the ads from the Sunday paper when something caught my eye. It was an ad from a major electronics reseller promoting a backup service for $69.99 (normally $99.99). What actually caught my eye was the fine print that read Maximum of 9.4GB of data, additional charges for larger sizes. Client must provide the medium to back up or transfer data, including CD, DVD, NAS, internal or external hard drive or another PC. That fine print reminded me of the reason I started Noobie. I kept thinking of all of the… Continue reading...
