Apple TV: To purchase or not to purchase, that is the… well you get the idea

I have been going back and forth debating whether or not to purchase the newly revamped Apple TV. It seems that for every advantage I come up with, I give birth to another disadvantage.

For instance, on one hand I would love to be able to rent high definition movies from the iTunes Store. But on the other hand I keep thinking of how many high definition DVDs I could rent from Netflix in lieu of the $329 Apple TV price tag. But if I decide to rent high definition DVDs from Netflix, I’ll need to purchase a new Blu-ray high definition DVD player. But at least if I use my money towards a new Blu-ray DVD player, I’ll also have the option of purchasing my own Blu-ray DVDs to take with me wherever I go. OK, so I can technically download the iTunes movies to my iPod or iPhone as well but I don’t want to fiddle around with hooking my iPod up to my DVD player in my minivan every time my family goes on a long road trip. Hmmmm… but I guess that wouldn’t matter anyway since I don’t have a Blu-ray DVD player in my minivan so I couldn’t play high definition movies there anyway. Maybe Apple TV is the better option after all.

And they wonder why noobies don’t jump at the opportunity to embrace new technology.
