Amazon.com now serving omelettes?

This week I taught Noobie's first How to Shop Online with Confidence class. According to the follow-up surveys, it was a big hit.

I spent a lot of time in the class talking about Amazon.com, partly because it is my favorite online merchant and partly because Amazon.com is very noobie friendly. One of the things I kept trying to impress on the class participants was that Amazon.com sells much more than just books.

To prove my point, I did a complete walkthrough of a purchase on Amazon.com while everyone watched. I took a big chance and asked class participants to shout out an item they would like to purchase.

The first thing I heard? A bread box. I felt an uneasy feeling in my stomach that I was going to score a miss rather than a hit while trying to prove my point that Amazon.com sells more than just books. But I decided to plow ahead and typed the words bread box in the Amazon.com search box. Much to my delight, Amazon.com displayed this item as its first search result:

Cook's Corner Stainless Steel Bread Box, Brushed by Cook's Corner

I asked for one more item and apparently the class wanted to continue to make me sweat as someone shouted out omelette maker. But once again, Amazon.com rose to the challenge with this item in the search results:

KittAmor Microwave Omelette Maker by KittAmor

So I succeeded in convincing the class that Amazon.com sells more than just books. But I still have to teach the class three more times. I wonder what the next class will throw at me. Stay tuned.
