This morning I helped a client of mine get his new Blu-ray player configured to access the Internet so he could watch streaming movies from his Netflix account. Pretty cool stuff. While I was there he also asked me if I could help him learn how to use his DVR. But I told him flat out I couldn't help him with that. After a brief pause for comedic effect, I told him the reason was because he didn't have a DVR. In my client's defense, it can be difficult to distinguish a cable box from a DVR by looks alone.… Continue reading...

But what I didn't expect was this little device sitting next to the television: This is a dream come true for a techie traveler like myself. Basically, this little doo-hickey allows me to hook u just about any type of gadget I want to the television. Blu-ray player on your laptop? Hook it up with an HDMI cable to the Digital Video In port. Use the television as a giant computer monitor? No problem.… Continue reading...

iPhone owners are a funny bunch of people. We already know we're the hippest mobile phone users on the planet and we have no problem flaunting it. But when we get around other iPhone owners we have to find something else to brag about. That something else is apps. It seems every time I get around another iPhone owner all we do is compare apps. Oh...[smug look]" Me: "I guess I never downloaded the such-and-such app because I spend too much time using… Continue reading...
