A scanner is a device that connects to your computer and allows you to transfer paper documents onto your computer in digital form. Scanned documents can be saved on your computer for further editing and storing or to send as an email attachment. Scanners can also be used for non-text-based documents such as photographs or other images, such as your child's artwork.

PPM
PPM stands for pages per minute and describes the number of printed pages a printer is capable of producing in one minute. Many PPM ratings on printers are higher than what the end user actually experiences because printer manufacturers rate the PPM by using the fastest draft mode on the printer with documents that contain very little printed information. It should also be noted that the PPM rating is defined when a printer is completely warmed up and ready to print. Some printer manufacturers have started listing the time it takes to print the first page after powering on the printer in addition to the standard PPM rating.
