progressive scan

Definition: Progessive scan is a method for "painting" a video signal by displaying video lines sequentially (progressively) from top to bottom. This is in contrast to the alternating odd/even method used with an interlaced signal. Progressive scan signals are considered superior to interlaces signals due to their scalability for high definition displays and the absence of quirks sometimes associated with interlaced signals.
