Here's a word you may not know...

breadcrumbs

In the technology world, breadcrumbs describe a series of links that show you where you are on a particular web site. Like leaving real breadcrumbs on a hiking trail to find your way back, breadcrumbs on a web site allow you to find your way back from your current location to the home page on the web site or any stop in between.

Take a look at the breadcrumbs on this web page (if you are not reading this on the specific breadcrumbs glossary page, this may not apply). They are located at the top of the white section on this page and start with the words "You are here". Following the breadcrumbs you can see that you branched off the Noobie home page to a section called Glossary and then to a specific definition, in this case, breadcrumbs. You can click either the Glossary link to return to the main glossary page or the Home link to return to the Noobie home page.
