Definition:
A partition is a section of a hard drive created by subdividing the total available storage space on the hard drive. Each partition is assigned its own drive letter giving the illusion that there are multiple drives on the computer.
A gigabyte (GB) describes how much information can be stored on a device. Although the actual numbers are slightly higher, it is easiest to think of 1 gigabyte as 1,000 megabytes.
For reference, a one hour standard definition video typically takes about 1 gigabyte (1 GB) of storage space.
